While there are many institutions offering education and training programs, there is also the option to develop your workforce internally, which ensures that skills are relevant to your manufacturing environment, culture and needs.  Join us for a discussion on the benefits and challenges of creating your own workforce program, and learn about resources available to make it happen.

Jeff Cooper, Engineering Manager, Jim Martin, Shop floor manager, R&D/Leverage Jeff will discuss R&D’s apprenticeship program developed to provide training to machinists for their manufacturing facility. He will discuss the development of their program, the advantages to the company, and lessons they have learned along the way.

Molly Wendland, Tax Incentives Business Development & Grant Specialist, CBIZ MHM, LLC &Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. – Molly will speak about training programs available through Kansas and Missouri, other incentives related to investment, as well as programs related to growing the company’s workforce in either state.

R&D Tool and Engineering was founded in 1976 as a job shop serving the tool and die markets. The company has grown from its small beginnings to a US campus with 170,000 square feet of floor space and a 32,000 square foot  facility in Sutton In Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England. R&D Tool offers prototype services, IBM, preform molds, and on-site product development for custom injection, ISBM, SBM, IBM, and extrusion blow molds. The new millennium added medical injection molds, CD/DVD/Blu Ray molds and aerospace components to the US team, and an expanded Product Solutions Laboratory for the UK facility. Leverage is a creative design studio added to facilitate consumer research, and create brand building manufacturable product and package designs.
