Recruiting Strategies in a Challenging Market

KCMN Events

KCMN April Meeting

According to economist Jeff Pinkerton of Mid America Regional Council:

Kansas City’s manufacturing industry (like the nation’s) is not adding net new jobs, however, nearly 17,000 people in the Kansas City MSA will find a job in manufacturing in the next ten years due to replacement demand. This is the demand created by current employees in the manufacturing sector retiring, leaving the industry or moving away from Kansas City. The ability for our region to recruit, train and retain these new entrants into an ever-changing manufacturing industry is important to keeping this industry strong.

For many manufacturers and those who employ people in the skilled trades, finding qualified applicants is a growing challenge, one made more urgent as retirements loom.

Join us for our April panel discussion, where our panelists will discuss:

  • Their view of the job market, and position needs
  • Recruiting strategies for finding the needed skillsets
  • Company strategies for developing a pipeline of candidates

Our panelists:

Panel moderator:  Rich Piper, Kansas City Kansas Community College

Charlie Browne, Operations Manager, Yanfeng Global Automotive Interiors, Inc.

Jason Grove, General Manager, Dimensional Innovations

Nancy Shively, HR Director, Pro Circuit, Inc.

Audience participation and discussion will be welcome as well!
