About Us

Our Mission

Kansas City Manufacturing Network is the central resource for manufacturing company managers and owners who are working to grow and improve their businesses across many functional areas.

How do we accomplish our mission?

  •  Focus is on manufacturers talking to other manufacturers, not the expert at the front of the room.
  •  Topics are presented with a management focus vs. technical implementation.
  •  Manufacturing company members drive topic selection.
  •  Our advisory board, membership committee and networking committee provide expanded opportunities for leadership and engagement with the broader manufacturing community.

Our Organization

The Kansas City Manufacturing Network was established in 1993 and is sponsored by the Mid-America Manufacturing Technology Center (MAMTC) and Missouri Enterprise. Programming and direction of KCMN is guided by an advisory board of manufacturing company members in collaboration with our sponsors.

Our Services

KCMN has developed resources to benefit its members by presenting:

Panel discussions – Manufacturing company participants share their successes, processes and lessons learned.

Case Studies – Speakers provide expertise on their particular topic, accompanied by a manufacturer who discusses how their company implemented the solutions discussed.

Plant Tours–Companies that have a special grasp of a manufacturing technology or technique open their doors to our members to share their operations and experiences.

Networking Opportunities- Networking events allow manufacturers to build ties to one another, share successes and seek advice

Lean Benchmarking Group – This members-only group meets quarterly to tour the host facility and to share information and support one another’s Lean journey.

Manufacturing Workforce Group – This group is composed of KCMN members who are looking to share ideas and best practices regarding workforce and human resource-related functions. The member group of manufacturers agrees to support each other’s efforts and participate by sharing their strategies and results.

Leadership Development Group – Formed in partnership with the National Tooling and Machine Association, and Johnson County Community College, this group is a blend of classroom instruction, materials to utilize/retain the concepts taught, and an opportunity to apply what is learned in their workplaces.  Sharing of successes, lessons learned and challenges is both encouraged and part of the curriculum in order to encourage accountability.

A visit to kcmn.org answers inquiries about the Network, announces various events, provides registrations, and updates the membership on manufacturing news and information.

LinkedIn Discussion Group
A members-only forum to share questions, comments or relevant news with other manufacturing company members.
